Helen Pankhurst, the great granddaughter of suffragette leader Emmeline, headlines the 2018 Flamstead Book Festival. Helen will be talking on the Friday about her famous family, her role as a consultant on the film Suffragette and her new book Deeds not Words published to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the suffragettes' great victory which first gave women the right to vote.
The Festival - known as Books in the Belfry and held in the picturesque St Leonard's medieval church - kicks off with an appearance from former England, Arsenal and Leicester striker Alan Smith. Others appearing include best-selling novelist Sarah Vaughan and historical biographer Clare Mulley who will be talking about her new work The Women Who Flew For Hitler. There will also be a special gala show from The Shakespeare Review Company.
