St Albans is a historic cathedral city in south Hertfordshire approximately 21 miles north of central London. Taking its modern name from St Alban, the first Christian martyr, who is believed to have been beheaded at the top of Holywell Hill. It became the first major town on the old roman road of Watling Street and is now a sought after commuter area.
Renowned for its superb rail links to the heart of the city (fast train to St Pancras in 19 minutes) and access to the major motorways, M1, M25 and A1(M). Increasingly people are also benefitting from good access to both Heathrow and Luton airports.
Families are drawn to the city for its many highly regarded schools for all ages. The city also enjoys an extensive range of restaurants, bars, shopping and leisure facilities.
The city boasts many open parkland areas including Verulamium, Clarence Park, which is home of the St Albans City FC, and many more offering a wide range of leisure facilities. There is also the old Albanian Rugby Football club and a Rugby Union Club which has a facility to the north of the city and hosts a training ground for premiership club Saracens.
