Welwyn Festival Week began as a continuous annual event in 1974. Each year, a group of willing, local volunteers works tirelessly to plan and coordinate a number of events that now covers a ten day period, towards the end of June when the days are longest. Recurring events are the Street Market on the Saturday morning of the opening weekend and the Family Fun Day, a week later on Saturday aftenoon, following the costume parade through Welwyn Village.
