As a Company we are great believers in supporting the community within which we both live and work. For many years we have assisted with projects ranging from ongoing sponsorship of schools, supporting various village fêtes, sports groups and local charities. Over the years we are proud to have donated thousands of pounds to a variety of PTA funds by means of a donation per property introduced by a direct referral from a participating school. Village days are regularly promoted, which provide families with lots of fun and have in turn raised their profile, enabling local charities and organisations to promote themselves and raise funds.
On Saturday 12 May, Putterills joined forces with the Papworth Trust and twenty four other Teams with a target to raise £50,000 for the disability charity.
The 50k for £50k Challenge saw 25 teams, comprising 119 members, walking 50km through the East Cambridgeshire countryside in one day.
The Putterills team comprised: Steve Carson (Land Director), Maureen Field (Wheathampstead Office), Jan Laurence (Harpenden Office) & Andrew Whyman (New Homes Sales Director)
The walk was mainly on cross-country paths and was completed in 10 hours and 24 minutes which made us eighth fastest out of twenty-five teams.
The actual total raised was nearly £64,000 with Putterills raising over £5,000 of the total.
The money raised will be used to support the recently opened Saxongate Community Learning Centre in Huntingdon. This groundbreaking facility provides accessible opportunities for education and skills development for all.
Putterills has committed to support this cause and over the coming year will undertake a variety of fundraising challenges to not only raise money but also awareness of a truly worthy appeal.
At the moment we have no air ambulance of our own in Hertfordshire and it is well known that the first 60 minutes of an incident are crucial. The quicker a patient can receive medical attention and get to a place of definitive care the better the prognosis for both survival and recovery. An Air Ambulance can reach the scene of an incident in approximately 25 minutes. No hospital in Herts is greater than 8 minutes transit. Those first minutes are vital, literally every second counts. A dedicated Herts Air Ambulance service could literally be a matter of life or death for any one of the County's million inhabitants.
The objective is to raise an initial £250,000 and then to fundraise for on-going operational costs per month. Every life-saving flight costs in excess of £1,500. No funding is received from the Health Service, Government or National Lottery.
Herts Air Ambulance relies solely on the goodwill and generosity of the people and businesses of Hertfordshire.
